Meet Therapist Alexandra Pool, Specializing in Individual Therapy
Hi, my name is Alexandra Pool, LPC PMH-C (she/her) and I am a licensed professional counselor and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner (PMH-C) specializing in eating disorders, body image, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and fertility and reproductive struggles.
As a relational therapist, I believe healing begins with a safe, authentic connection. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood and supported as they navigate difficult experiences and work toward meaningful change. At the heart of my work is a deep respect for each person's story, and I recognize that beginning therapy takes courage and vulnerability. I tailor my approach to meet each client where they are, based on their unique history, experiences, and goals.
Education & Experience
I earned my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2017. Before joining The Therapy Group, I focused my career on eating disorder recovery, working in Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). These experiences have shaped my integrative approach, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities that I tailor to each client's unique needs and goals.
Eating Disorder Recovery & the Health at Every Size Approach
My work with eating disorders is grounded in the Health at Every Size (HAES) framework. I support clients in unlearning the harmful messages of diet culture, developing a more intuitive relationship with food, and reconnecting with their bodies from a place of compassion rather than control. I also recognize that healing doesn't happen in isolation. When appropriate, I collaborate with loved ones and other members of a client's support system to help create a strong foundation for healing.
Maternal Mental Health
I'm passionate about supporting women through different life stages, from adolescence to adulthood and into motherhood. I have completed specialized clinical training in maternal mental health and earned my PMH-C certification through Postpartum Support International, further developing my clinical competency in supporting mothers, fathers, and families throughout the perinatal and postpartum periods.
I understand, both clinically and personally, the emotional and physiological toll that fertility challenges, pregnancy, and motherhood bring into one's life. I recognize how isolating these experiences can sometimes feel. My goal is to provide a space where there is room for all of it- the joy, grief, uncertainty, anxiety, identity shifts, and complicated emotions that can accompany this stage of life.
I offer in-person therapy in West Chester and online therapy to residents of Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey.
