Specialties: Individual, Couples, Family
My name is Ryan Strathy (He/Him/His) and I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I work with individuals and families across the lifespan. I have a particular interest in supporting adolescents and young adults struggling with expressing their emotions and navigating life transitions. I also enjoy working with adults finding difficulty with balancing life’s demands or feeling dissatisfied or stuck in life. Whether you are coming in for the first time or continuing a journey you've already started, I aim to provide a space where you feel truly heard and supported.
My therapeutic style is warm, genuine, and inviting. I believe in creating a strong, trusting relationship as the foundation for meaningful work. While I bring compassion and patience into our sessions, I’m not afraid to gently challenge and push you when it serves your growth.
I incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I aim to help clients accept and create new relationships with their emotions, shift unhelpful thought patterns, explore their values and what is important to them to guide their behaviors to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
A session with me often includes honest conversations about what matters most to you. We’ll navigate difficult emotions together, but I also believe in making room for humor and lightheartedness when needed. My approach is collaborative, grounded in respect for your lived experience, and focused on helping you build insight and resilience.
I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from West Chester University, and continue to grow through ongoing training and education in evidence-based practices. My prior experience includes working in Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) with teenagers and adults struggling with mental health, co-occurring disorders, substance use, and eating disorders. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, and substance use.
What I love most about being a therapist is the opportunity to be invited into my clients lives to get to know you and be a part of your healing. I love to walk alongside you in difficult times, celebrate your successes and achievements, learn about your interests and what brings you joy. I enjoy helping you recognize your strengths and to become aware of your resilience. I find it the most impactful to explore what it means to be human and search for meaning and purpose in our lives.
Outside of session, I enjoy spending time with my wife, family, and friends, being physically active, gardening, and reading.
