Supporting Your Partner Through Grief: A Group for Young Adults

deserve-better.png

what is the COMPASSIONATE PARTNERS grief GROUP?

This group is for young adults whose partners are grieving the death of a parent, offering a space to process the complicated feelings that come with both witnessing grief and supporting a loved one through it. Grief can feel lonely, but group therapy provides an opportunity to connect with other people through shared life experience. This is NOT a workshop where you sit and listen. This is a process group that relies on the participation of group members sharing, listening, and providing feedback to one another.

The Compassionate Partners Grief Group is a space to set down the weight you've been carrying: the helplessness of watching your partner hurt, the exhaustion of holding it together, the guilt of having your own feelings about a loss that isn't "yours," the strange grief of missing who your partner was before. You'll find language for the things that are hard to say out loud, even to the person you love most.

Together, you'll let go of the impossible standard of being the "right" kind of supportive partner, learn how to show up without losing yourself in the process, and discover that the people who get it have been waiting for you to find them.
