Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (CRNP, PMHNP)

Practice psychiatry the way you always wished you could.

You didn't become a nurse practitioner to squeeze real people into fifteen-minute slots. At The Therapy Group, you'll have the time, the team, and the schedule freedom to care for clients the way they deserve, with appointments built around connection instead of volume.

We're looking for a psychiatric nurse practitioner, certified in Pennsylvania as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), to provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for our clients. This is a 1099 independent contractor role, and you choose the setup that fits your life: hybrid in person at our Philadelphia office, hybrid in person at our West Chester office, or fully virtual. Whichever you choose, you'll need to be licensed as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Pennsylvania.

About The Therapy Group

The Therapy Group is a collection of warm, authentic therapists with boutique offices in Philadelphia and West Chester, plus virtual care across multiple states. We believe the relationship you build with a client is the most powerful tool for change, so we match clients to clinicians on connection and fit, not just availability. Our team works across trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, relationships, perinatal mental health, and more, including EMDR, intensives, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. The culture is down-to-earth. Real talk, real support, no stuffiness.

What you'll do

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations and thoughtful, ongoing medication management for adult clients

  • Collaborate closely with each client's therapist so care feels coordinated, never siloed

  • See clients in appointments long enough to actually know them

  • Build a caseload at the pace and size that works for you

  • Practice in a private pay setting, with no insurance panels to wrestle

Who you are

Must-haves:

  • A nurse practitioner certified in Pennsylvania as a CRNP in the psychiatric-mental health specialty (this is PA's licensure path for psych NPs, built on an active PA RN license)

  • National board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC or equivalent)

  • Pennsylvania prescriptive authority, with a collaborative agreement that meets state requirements (we'll talk through the collaborating physician piece together)

  • Active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances when clinically appropriate

  • Professional liability insurance, or willingness to obtain it

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience prescribing for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), or interest in being trained in it. Our KAP program and its trained therapists would love to work with you, but it's not required.

  • Licensure or certification as an NP in states beyond Pennsylvania (our virtual practice reaches clients in multiple states, so extra states mean more clients we can match with you)

  • Outpatient private practice experience

  • Comfort working hand in hand with therapists as true collaborators

If you check the must-have boxes but not every nice-to-have, we'd still love to hear from you.

What you can expect

  • A steady stream of clients matched to you, with no marketing, networking hustle, or chasing referrals

  • You control your schedule. Work the hours that fit your life, not the other way around.

  • Private pay only, so your clinical judgment leads, not an insurance company

  • We handle the inquiries, the matching, and the admin, so you can show up and do your best work

  • A warm, connected team, the kind where people check in and genuinely care

  • A culture of authenticity. Show up as your real, human self, because that's who your clients need.

  • Paid per session as a 1099 independent contractor. We talk about pay openly and early, and we'll walk you through exactly how the numbers work in our first conversation. As a contractor, you'll handle your own taxes and benefits, and in exchange you get real schedule control and the upside of a private pay caseload.

Logistics

  • Location: your choice of hybrid at our Philadelphia office, hybrid at our West Chester office, or fully virtual (PA psych NP licensure required either way)

  • For hybrid roles, expect a mix of in-person and virtual sessions, shaped around office availability and your schedule

  • Employment type: 1099 independent contractor

  • Schedule: flexible. You build it, and your caseload grows around your availability.
