WHAT IS A somatic INTENSIVE?
A somatic intensive is an extended, focused therapeutic experience that replaces months of weekly sessions with immersive, concentrated work.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, where you meet for 50 minutes and then return to life with all its distractions, an intensive creates a protected container where you can go deeper, faster, with sustained momentum—and without the rush or interruptions.
Rather than staying "in your head," somatic work brings you into your body, focusing on regulating the nervous system and releasing the tension that traumatic events, transitions, and old patterns can store physically. Through a blend of talking, breathwork, grounding, body movement, imagination, and gentle vulnerability, the therapist will help you identify the patterns keeping you stuck and guide you toward release, regulation, and reconnection with yourself.
Is a somatic Intensive right for you?
You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from a somatic intensive, though many people who come to us are carrying something heavy. Our intensives are built for:
People who feel stuck: talk therapy hasn't gotten you where you want to go, and you sense there's more underneath that words alone can't reach
People living in their heads: you're insightful and "so self-aware," but you still feel off, on edge, or disconnected from yourself
People carrying trauma or a major shift: a loss, a life transition, or a difficult experience that your body still seems to be holding onto
Busy people: your schedule makes weekly therapy nearly impossible, but you're committed to doing the work
People who want to go deeper, faster: you're ready to invest focused time and energy in a way that creates real, lasting change
People navigating a major transition: a new chapter, a move, a career shift, or a health challenge that's asking more of you than you expected
People who feel run by their past: your history seems to be dictating how you show up now, and you're ready to change that
Have Questions About somatic Intensives?
-
We start with a 90-minute intake session where we go over all of the “get to know you” information, build some trust and comfort, and identify goals. Next, are two 3-hour session split up between two days in the same week or back-to-back weeks. The therapist will follow-up a few days after the last session to check-in
-
Before the intake session, you’ll have a few forms to fill out, such as consents, payment, and assessment.
For yourself: making sure that you’re well rested, well fed, well hydrated, and in comfy clothes is a great place to start. It may be helpful to let your support system know that you’ll be taking part in an intensive so they can help with supporting you or covering any needs you have.
-
Everyone’s experience is different, but you can expect a combination of talking through your thoughts, breathwork, grounding work, body movement, using your imagination, and leaning into your vulnerability.
We’ll take breaks as needed and take your time through the somatic exercises.
-
Intensive therapy condenses your healing journey into focused, extended sessions over days or weeks rather than spreading it across months of weekly appointments. This concentrated approach helps you maintain emotional momentum and create breakthroughs more quickly.
