Specialties: Individual
Hi, my name is Alexandra Pool, LPC (she/her) and I am a licensed professional counselor specializing in eating disorders, body image, trauma, and life transitions. As a relational therapist, I believe healing begins with a safe, authentic connection. I work to create a space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered.
I earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2017. Before joining The Therapy Group, I focused my career on eating disorder recovery working in Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). These experiences have shaped my integrative approach, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities that I tailor to each client’s unique needs and goals.
My work with eating disorders is grounded in the “Health at Every Size™ (HAES) framework. I support clients in unlearning the harmful messages of diet culture, developing a more intuitive relationship with food, and reconnecting with their bodies from a place of compassion rather than control. I also recognize that healing doesn’t happen in isolation. I work to engage loved ones in a client’s care as part of the healing process.
I’m passionate about supporting women through different life stages - from adolescence to adulthood and into motherhood. I have completed trainings in maternal mental health so I can support clients through postpartum depression and anxiety, perinatal loss, and reproductive trauma. I recognize the emotional and physiological toll that fertility challenges, pregnancy, and motherhood bring in to one’s life. This phase of life often feels incredibly isolating. My goal is to hold space for all the hard thoughts and emotions that come with it.
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for each person’s story. I understand that starting therapy takes bravery and vulnerability, and I strive to create a space where clients feel truly seen and supported.
If you meet with me in person, there’s a good chance my labradoodle, Captain, will be there to offer a little extra comfort.
