Meet Therapist Brittany Momah, Specializing in Individual and Couples Therapy

My name is Brittany Momah (she/her), and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I work with adult individuals who have experienced trauma/abuse, struggle with unhealthy relationship patterns, deal with anxiety/depression, experience burnout, face racial trauma, or wish to improve themselves. I also work with couples wanting to learn better communication, rebuild trust, gain conflict resolution skills, or hope to strengthen their relationship and build a deeper understanding of one another.

My therapeutic process is eclectic and collaborative. I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, because there are no one-size-fits-all people! I imagine myself as your hiking guide. Together, we are wandering through the forest. Sure, I’m leading the way and pointing out some things that I think are interesting and asking you questions about what you think, but I’m also looking to you. I’m asking you what you think is interesting and what you want to know more about. We might approach a fork in the path, and I’ll ask which direction you want to take. I’ll make sure you feel comfortable along the way, and I’ll have a bag of tools at my disposal to offer support and tips on how to take care of yourself throughout our journey.

My style is warm, understanding, and empowering. I pull from multiple therapeutic modalities in my work, including, but not limited to, internal family systems, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, DBT, attachment theory, feminist theory, CBT, empowerment counseling, psychodynamic theory, and somatic healing. Earning my master's in social service at Bryn Mawr College provided me with a lens in which to view my work with clients; I believe in examining how the patriarchal/white supremist/capitalist systems we live under impact our mental health and everyday lives. I work to de-stigmatize pathologizing language and advocate for people in oppressed identities, particularly survivors of abuse, BIPOC individuals, and people in the LGBTQIA+ community. Additionally, I am a certified domestic violence advocate and serve on the board of a domestic violence organization.

My favorite thing about being a therapist is my clients! It is such an honor to be a part of their journey and to witness their growth. In my free time, I can be found with my 4 pets, kickboxing, seeing live music, taking nature walks, watching sports, or yapping with friends.
