Meet Therapist Julie Young Specializing In Individual & Couples Therapy

Welcome! I’m Julie Young (she/her), and I am here to help you reconnect with your most authentic, grounded, and self-trusting version of yourself. Therapy with me is an active, collaborative process where you can show up unfiltered and unapologetic. I offer a space that balances warmth, honesty, and humor, while also giving you clear reflections, feedback, and practical tools you can use in your daily life.

My work is rooted in Internal Family Systems, Attachment Theory, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. I will guide you to uncover the different “parts” of yourself, especially those shaped by fears or wounds from past relationships and experiences, and how they show up in your current patterns. Together, we build insight into why you feel, think, and react the way you do, while also working toward real, embodied change. I integrate somatic practices and nervous system awareness so you’re not just talking about your experiences, but learning how to safely feel, process, and move through them to be a more expressed version of you.

I support clients in identifying and shifting patterns in relationships, including codependency, emotional avoidance, and difficulty expressing needs. If you feel stuck in cycles of over giving, self-doubt, or disconnection, we’ll work to strengthen your sense of self, boundaries, and emotional clarity. I also work with clients navigating existential questions, life transitions, and a desire for deeper meaning often integrating curiosity around spirituality, intuition, and personal belief systems.

My approach also considers the larger systems you exist within including family dynamics, cultural expectations, and identity and how these may have shaped your internal world. There is so much to understand about ourselves when observing the influence of our pasts, without looking to blame, but rather to build context and self-compassion. I will support you in clarifying which beliefs are truly yours from what has been conditioned, so you can make choices that feel more aligned and Self-led.

Clients often come to me wanting to feel more confident, more emotionally secure, and more connected in their relationships with themselves and others. Through our work, you can expect to gain insight into your patterns, tools to regulate your emotions, and the ability to trust yourself more deeply as you navigate your life.

I primarily work with adults, with a special interest in working with women who are navigating attachment trauma or codependent tendencies. I love learning about my clients’ unique experiences, balancing this amazement around our variability with a deep-rooted recognition of our universality – that we are not alone. I find myself frequently inspired by clients creating change within their relationships and lives with self-trust and courage through the insights accessed in the therapeutic space.

Outside of therapy, I’m often practicing Ashtanga yoga, dancing to live music, hiking, or exploring astrology. I hold Master’s degrees in Counseling (M.S.Ed. and M.Phil.Ed) from the University of Pennsylvania. I have completed Gottman Level I training and am currently in IFS Level I (completion May 2026), and I also bring a background in yoga, Reiki, and trauma-informed practices into my work.
